Microsoft FrontPage no longer available on any Linux hosting plans

It was brought to our attention from one of our long-standing clients that FrontPage was no longer functioning properly on his Linux shared hosting plan. After investigating the issue, we discovered that Microsoft had discontinued Linux support for FrontPage. While FrontPage functionality was not removed from the last version of Plesk, it is no longer distributed with it. Therefore, although Microsoft had discontinued Linux support, it was still functional to our clients that had been using FrontPage before Microsoft had discontinued Linux support. The problems arose when updates to Plesk were recently performed on our servers.

Yum available on Cirrus Tech Linux VPS Plans

We’ve recently updated our Linux VPS Plans to include Yellow dog Updater, Modified (YUM). By including Yum as part of our Linux VPS Plans, you can take advantage of the benefits Yum offers right off the bat instead of having to manually install Yum yourself.

Why Colocate?

While the days of hosting companies running “data centers” out of their home basement are long gone (this writer hopes), there are a variety of data centers that exist today. The two most popular types are “in-house” data centers and colocation centers. An in-house data center is usually run out of a facility that the hosting company owns and manages; whereas, a colocation data center is run out of a shared facility. Sometimes a hosting company may have their own colocation center where they host their own data center in addition to the data centers of other companies. In this case, the company would be running their data center out of a colocation center.
